IS BALANCE POSSIBLE?

turning burners on and off instead of trying for balance?

An essay by David Sedaris is quoted in various places (and even in the orientation session for my most recent degree) with a theory of life being like a stovetop having different burners that represent different aspects of life: family, friends, work and health. To be successful, it says, you need to turn off one of the burners, and to be truly successful, you need to turn off two.

What I wanted to cover on this site is thinking around how to make the most of these different roles in life, perhaps turning some down for a while, but returning them to full strength again after a season.

First up, I’m going back through my notes from uni to see what I have learned, and what I can share with others. I hope you enjoy the insights.
